The Mayor rolled out her plan for next year’s fireworks celebration at a joint meeting of Whitehall City Council and the Whitehall City Schools Board of Education Wednesday, Oct. 5th. Under the administration’s proposal, the fireworks will be set off from the high school’s band practice field on Monday, July 3rd at 10 p.m. The City plans to host a viewing party in the football stadium beforehand from 6-10 p.m. Bring your blanket and chairs, and settle in for live music, bounce houses, face painters and other family-friendly fun. A selection of food trucks and concessions will also be there.
Tickets will be required to enter the viewing party, and residents will receive two FREE tickets with their 2017 Residents Guide that will come out at the beginning of the year. You can pick up more FREE tickets at City Hall anytime between May 1st and the fireworks show. On the day of the event, no one without a ticket can attend the viewing party, but residents who show proof of residency (a valid driver’s license or current utility bill) can get a ticket at the gate. Everyone who enters the stadium will receive a wristband and go through security, just like at City’s annual Food Truck & Fun Fest. Parking will be available at the high school on a first-come, first-serve basis, but shuttles will run between Holy Spirit, City Hall and The Wave Ministries on Yearling to take people to and from the event.
