For other positions of interest not currently posted, you may complete a job interest card online to be notified about future opportunities.

The City employs classified, unclassified, exempt, and non-exempt staff. For unclassified positions, Human Resources coordinates the hiring process with the respective department head.

Classified Positions

Clerical Entrance Exam
 

The Civil Service Commission recently conducted a Clerical entrance exam in order to establish an eligibility list for future hiring. The next available testing date is scheduled to be in February 2016. Please view this website 30-60 days in advance for further information and application instructions or complete a job interest card to be notified when the exam is posted. 


At any time, please complete a job interest card to be notified when a clerical position is posted. 

Dispatcher Entrance Exam  

The City of Whitehall offers full testing services, in coordination with the Civil Service Commission, for the position of Communication Operator through National Testing Network, Inc.  The eligibility list is scheduled to be certified in July. The next available testing dates are scheduled to be April - June 2016. 


Police Officer Entrance Exam

The Civil Service Commission recently conducted entrance exams through the National Testing Network, Inc. (NTN) for the position of Police Officer in order to establish an eligibility list for future hiring. The next available testing date is scheduled to be in November-December 2015. Firefighter / Paramedic Entrance Exam
   

The Civil Service Commission recently conducted entrance exams through the National Testing Network, Inc. (NTN) for the position of Firefighter in order to establish an eligibility list for future hiring. The next available testing date is scheduled to be in August -October 2015. Please view this website 30-60 days in advance for further information and application instructions or complete a job interest card to be notified when this position is posted. 


Information about the National Testing Network used for classified Civil Service exams for the City of Whitehall.

When testing is available (Firefighter, Police Officer, Dispatcher and Clerical) , please go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, and sign up for the City of Whitehall. Exams are held at various times. Please see the above information regarding each potential exam date. The application period must be open in order to apply and send test scores.  

What to expect at the www.nationaltestingnetwork.com website:

  • Completion of the application process.
  • Review all information related to the City of Whitehall positions including minimum requirements, salary and benefits. 
  • Schedule your own convenient test time. Tests can be offers multiple times a week, including Saturdays.
  • Opportunity to take online practice tests.
  • Take high quality job simulation tests in a standardized, fair testing environment.
  • Upon completion of the entry level exam, all candidate scores are automatically forwarded to the City of Whitehall's Civil Service Commission.  Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam will be placed on the eligibility list. The City of Whitehall's Civil Service Commission will contact candidates on the list when a position becomes vacant and at that time will invite them to continue to in other stages of the selection process.

    National Testing Network does not replace the City of Whitehall's Civil Service Commission responsibility and decision making in the testing process.  All candidate results are provided to the City of Whitehall where the final decisions are made.
